Patterns and internet sources?

I am fairly useless when it comes to internet searches, I am still learning how to google. I wondered if anyone here had a source that might yield a women's tailcoat pattern that is from sometime this century? All I seem to come up with is 18th and 19th Century patterns and I would like something a little more modern.

TIA Jill

Jill, have you tried Folkwear Patterns? It seems to me they have a pattern for a woman's "smoking", or tuxedo. I can't recall whether it has tails, though.

What function does this coat have to serve? Is it for dressage? If so, you might try Suitability, which has equestrian patterns. Karen Maslowski in Cincinnati

Thank you for the suggestions, I will have a look and see if something is suitable.

I am trying to meet the demands of a performer who remembers what she bought in the late 70's and seems to think that it should be available easily. A lot of her stuff is mid-to late 70's and falling apart, and wherever possible I am re-patterning from the originals, but in this case it is impossible.

I used to love dressage, do they still give points for appearance? On a funny note, I got to go to my first jump race in England recently, Kempton on boxing day, and my husband's pick for one race was chosen as "best turned out". His comment was, "Too pretty to race." and true to form, the horse failed to finish.

Is there a FAQ or a list of resource urls for this group? It seems to have a good well of knowledge and some nice people, and a FAQ would reduce the amount of stupid questions from newbies like me :-)

Dressage coat patterns may work well, giving enough movement and an unique cut.

Any good sources for those in particular?

jill- suitability has the nicest patterns for dressage coats...

as far as appearance, they dont really give "points" for it--each movement ofthe test is graded, however, there are definate "do's and dont's" for presentation-such as proper attire, braiding, ect.... betsey "we do not inherit the earth, we caretake it for our children"

Thank you for the attempt, but all those have sources only for the shadbelly and I am looking more for the single breasted with pointed tails

Thanks to everyone that tried to help. I finally found something close enough, an Uncle Sam jacket pattern. I am surprised at the difficulty of finding a tailcoat pattern on the internet, but thanks to the people here and some persistent googling, now have a tidy little collection of resource urls.
