Hey all,

I just finished up a wedding gown. Great client. Lots of fun. Gorgeous fabrics. What more could I ask for? lol

I'm posting a link to the photo album on ofoto.com where these pictures are. I put them there so I could share them with a mail list I'm on. Haven't had time to put them in the yahoo group yet. Who knows when I will have time to move them over there too! LOL (I have a mental image of my face on a large hamster body running on that wheel that goes nowhere!!)

So, if you'd like to see here's the link:

That is wonderful. Did you design it or did she? Or, is it an existing pattern? Really turned out splendid. Thanks for sharing. Joy

Very pretty! And I like the dangles and the things you made to use up the last of the fabric!

Thanks everyone for the wonderful compliments. :) All very much appreciated.

Joy, the bride came to me with a drawing of what she wanted. It was very, very close to Vogue 2731. We looked at that pattern and made very minor changes to it. The most significant change was to cut the shoulders a little more narrow. We thought we would have to cut the back lower too. (was hard to tell from the picture how low that back was.) But it worked out that it hit her just right.

Cea, The sleeves are close to what the pattern calls for. This gal is very tall and she has long arms. I had to split the sleeve on the "lengthen or shorten here" line and add 2" in there. Then I added another 1" at the cuff of the sleeve. That way they fit her perfect. The scallops at the edge of the lace fall at her fingertips. I did shorten the seam on the sleeves. According to the pattern, the seam should have extended well past the elbow. She wanted that open. So we stopped the seam above her elbow. The weights were my idea. Looking at the way the lace draped, I knew they needed something. I'd seen pictures of designer dresses where they'd done things similar to that. Not neccesarily

Can you say "she hit send by accident??" I knew you could....

Picking up where I left off...

Looking at the way the lace draped, I knew they needed

....on the sleeves. Mostly I've seen weights like this on the points of handkerchief hemmed skirts. Or where they wanted a collar or lapel to hang "just so." I knew it would work on the sleeves. Using the trim from the neckline just seemed like the best option. She was really excited about them too. It really helps the lace from flying away and being totally out of control when the dress is on her. I had visions of a stray draft at the church. Then her sleeves flying up like demon possessed things. lol Not a good thing at all.

The weights worked really well. Can't wait till I have another project where I can do something similar. :)

That gown is a knock out! It is absolutely gorgeous! What a great job!

As to the hamster, time to get off the wheel and take a little break. Even hamsters have breaks once in a while.... I use the term "headless chicken" and I don't think I'll get into the description here, but I am sure some of you will get what I mean. I like the hamster description better.
