Pictures of the skirt

Getting older is compulsory. Growing up is optional. ;-)

I was able to get a couple of pictures today of DGD in the new skirt. She's wearing her borrowed blouse so I could take measurements, I'm making a new one.

Hey, now that's a great idea! I was wondering how to fill all the spare time between 12:30AM and 7:00AM...

;-}

I would love to do a Kate-like web site. Comcast has changed their web-building tools and I have not been able to figure it out. There must be some software which helps with this stuff...

I would actually consider making this type of skirt for money, however the kilt will always remain a "share my DNA and I'll make it" project.

ROTFLOL! I am 68-soon-to-be-69, and I'm still waiting to grow up too. Thanks!

Yes! It would give you something to do during those long achy nights before you get your surgery!!!

Check for a message board for Concast users, maybe even a newsgroup? You aren't the only one trying to figure things out, I'm sure, and someone has figured it out and loves to help other people.

The other dancers would probably be delighted to have a special skirt made especially for them. An ideal target group.

Wow, excellent work. My brother is into Scottish country dancing and had a kilt made for him in Scotland a few years ago, so I know what your work is worth in Euro (incl. p.+p.) ;-) Judging from the multitude of trophies, you work is not in vain, either. No wonder, charming little lady that DGD is. ;-) Keep my fingers crossed for her.

I believe that's an understatement!!! ;) She looks wonderful. And she looks absolutely delighted with her skirt. Such a good grandma!!

No one told me I had to grow up. I'm 73 and still a kid. Well maybe tomorrow, as Scarlet said, then again maybe not. Juno

Nah... Growing up is for kids! I'm past it at 51! ;)

Beverly, the skirt and the DGD are both beautiful.

She looks lovely in the skirt. I wish I could see her dance with it on. It will be a wonderful sight to see. Juno

Indeed!

Good idea, I'll check it out.

The parents of these kids (my DD and DSIL excepted) seem to have enormous piles of extra $$$ to fund the activity. So there is very likely a good market for my skills. The woman who mentored me while I was making the "practice kilt" urged me to start doing it professionally. Maybe I could take on five or six a year...but not kilts!

Thanks, Kate! I do dote on her. ;-)

Thanks! I made her a practice kilt (from non-official wool in a Stuart-like fabric), and eventually will make one for her from genuine tartan. These "Nationals/Aboyne" skirts are *much* less time-consuming.

She was very pleased. I drafted the pattern for the new blouse last night, I'll work on it today. I'm taking my car in for repair, so I'll be stuck here for at least three days... time for lots of sewing.

My DSIL always video tapes her competitions, if they ever decide to put them on the 'net I'll share the URL.

You should be able to set your pace as you prefer. Limiting your output makes your product "rare" and therefore, more desirable. Human nature being what it is. Price accordingly. ;-)

You can build your pages on your own computer, then upload them to the Comcast site. I build all my pages with PC-Write; any text editor willing to output plain text will do, but PC-Write can be adjusted to suit the job and your habits of working. (It does insist that extensions have no more than three characters, so I have to rename index.htm to index.html after uploading.)

I wouldn't touch Comcast's page-building tools with a ten-foot pole; they turn out trashy code.

It's a bit clunky and limited, but I use Front Page. It's easy to use.
