Ping - Ron, please

The strangest thing - before Hurricane Isaac, I told the owner of a very elderly dachshund who was sheltering here not to worry, that the only thing he could hurt was to chew my foot control wires in two. When I said it, I promptly put all of the foot controls up on the tables (just in case). Now that the water is receding and the guests are safe and back home, I put the controls back down on the floor. Would you believe? one of the wires - the round one that goes from Bernina to foot control has TWO cuts in it down to the bare wires. The cuts are about 4" apart and I am very puzzled about how that could have happened. They are 'all the way around' cuts; not teething puppy chews. Unless there's something sharp in the windy thing that coils the wires beneath the control for packing and traveling, I just can't imagine. Any thoughts? Polly

Are you sure they are cuts and not cracking due to age? The insulation can become brittle over time and crack all around. Probably best to have it replaced in any case.

I guess it could be cracking due to age but this sm is at most 4 years old and never stored under harsh conditions. Quite a puzzle. Thank you kindly, Ron, for answering. We appreciate you heaps. Polly
