Reading through the comments, I was struck by someone who said spiral steel boning by-the-yard was hard to come by. ??? I have several suppliers saved to my bookmarks.
Well, that's what *I* thought... As most of the sensible folk I know here and on Sewbiz could get it, what was the problem? Seems a lot of folk would rather use the cable ties than go to the bother of researching and getting the right stuff. When you put so much into a garment, why not go that little bit further and use the best boning available?

Those ties are sold in Home Depot stores, which are almost everywhere now. So I imagine the people who are using them are those with needs for immediate gratification. Run to Home Depot, buy lightbulbs, coat hooks, and cable ties.
Our police carry those cable ties for extra handcuffs in case of larger numbers of arrestees. ;-)
I think ours do too...
I still can't imagine wanting to use them as corset bones by choice.
I remember hearing that during the first Gulf War enemy combatants wishing to surrender had to bring their own zip ties.
