present for my DH

I need to get the recipe for the yogurt in a crockpot, please. If I had it before, it's lost.

One of my computers crashed and I lost so much, including addresses and photos of many relatives. My fault, I should have backed them up, but just didn't get around to it.

Crockpot yogurt

1/2 gal milk on low for 2 1/2 -3 hours It should reach a temp of about 185F. I check with an instant meat thermometer, unplug pot and let the milk sit covered for about 3 hours to a temp of about 110F. Take 1/2 cup plain yogurt and mix with about 2 cups of the warm milk, return it all to pot and mix well. Wrap the pot in a large towel for eight hours. My inset can come out so I remove it from the outside metal heat source. Take out 1/2 cup of yogurt for your next batch and refrigerate in a covered container. I store the rest in 1 Qt,wide mouth, Mason Jars to keep it in. It's a very creamy yogurt. If I want it very thick for something,I drain it in cheese cloth and save the way for baking. I use yogurt on fresh fruit, cereal, bread baking and to make frozen yogurt. I have a small ice cream machine for frozen yogurt. One other note, I like 1% milk. I've never tried it with any other kind. I usually start it about 2 in the afternoon and it's ready in the morning

That's very pretty! Big toys for big boys, eh? ;-) You know, it's so strange to see the name of that German city on an American pillowcase. You did a great job.

Lucky you (or maybe not) that you have such a productive garden. On the other hand, I'm not too sad this year that I haven't got much veggies or fruit to preserve. Next year, I hope we'll have black currants for jam and stuff. We'll see. How on earth you find the time for sewing I have no idea.

Thank you very much, Juno. I intend to try this over the weekend. One of my favorite toppings on fruits, cereal and with toast is yogurt.
