Project finished

Man, I mangled those corners where the zipper attaches to the sides. I guess they don't look so bad from the outside, but there's some stress points that are probably going to tear loose.

Probably should have sewn the flaps on before I closed the body, but with my last experience at aligning zippers, I wanted everything where it was supposed to be and aligned.

I'll keep some spare fabric in case I have to redo the corners.

But at least I've got this great big teal thing in my house. My favorite color.

Perhaps next time I won't make the body so tight fitting. I tightened it up so that the pieces of foam wouldn't become unaligned from each other and risk one sliding down the side of the other, resulting in me flailing the bag around trying to get things settled. Sure made the foam hard to get in, and adds stress to those corners.

Ta da. Now if I could only figure out a pattern for a tent. I know, lots of patterns on the web. I just like inventing.

I usually find it easier to sew the zip in first and then sew the seams... You could also try reinforcing the corners.

If you mark everything carefully and line up the marks when you assemble it, that should work.

Mine too - well, after bitter chocolate and turquoise! :D

Prifessional upholsterers wrap the foam in poly bag or cling film to slide it in and rip the poly out once it's in place...

Good luck! Sounds like a fun project! I just need to make side walls for my gazebo!

This was already in plastic bags. I left the bags on.

Gazebos are hard to backpack with!
