prom dress

Working on the SENIOR prom dress.

Finally found all the colors of chiffon we wanted.

Did a muslin of the bodice yesterday. Working on rework of that today.

Might cut into the "real" fabric tomorrow...possibly. (the kids are out of school for parent/teacher conferences tomorrow. I already had my conference earlier in the week. So we might do other fun things instead....like shoe shopping (the boy will not be thrilled) and a movie (he will like that better!!))

Will post pics when further along. ;)

Sharon, I can hardly wait for pics. I know it must have been difficult to find four(?) complementary colors of chiffon, but you did it! ;-)

My DGD is out of school tomorrow as well, and since the contractor is coming today for the final walk-through and payment, I'll be able to go over to help DGD with her dress-in-the-works. DGD is making hers, when are you going to nudge your DD that direction? You know you're being selfish by not sharing you talent, don't you? ;-D

Three colors. But 4 layers. The bodice and the base skirt are a deep royal blue. Then the chiffon over skirts are (from inner to outer layers) white, teal, white, baby blue. We found them at Hancock's. :)

Yay on both counts!!!! I'm so glad the remodel is done. And I'm glad you'll have a day with your girl. :)

Yeah, yeah. I'm a hog that's it. lol She doesn't have a whole lot of interest in that direction. Every now and again she will act like she wants to but then moves on to other things quickly. Who knows.

Ok, I knew there was a four in there somewhere. WHERE ARE THE PICS???

We had a fabulous day. Re-drafted the bodice pieces and cut a new muslin, this time using knit fabric closer in hand to the fashion fabric. Just one more tiny adjustment and we'll be ready to cut the fashion fabric.

I knew it!

I truly do understand. Neither of my DDs were interested in learning to sew and were further turned off by my too fussy teaching style. More reason for me to be thrilled that DGD is so inclined. Maybe you'll have a budding designer DGC someday.
