pulling my hair (and lots of threads) out!

Well, I finished the most recent flag order (garden flags with the school mascot on it) and decided to tackle 2 projects that only recently came to my attention. The first was replacing a zipper in H's coat...it was missing a couple of teeth and the zipper pull broke earlier this week. Trouble was finding the correct length and the same material (metal versus plastic). Well....didn't find the metal, but found the correct length in a plastic toothed zipper. put it in and now he can wear the coat again.

Next project was repairing his safari-style jacket - yeah, right!! To repair it would make it more patches than actualy coat!! So...I'm currently in the middle of deconstructing it to use the original coat as a pattern for a completely new coat!! Thisis a first for me, and it is extremely nerve-wracking as the coat is actually 20 years old and instead of seams coming apart, the farbiuc is coming apart. Ah well, I suppose I might actually get it all taken apart and start putting the new one together sometime around Thanksgiving...at least the way things are currently going.

In my off time I am creating a new wardrobe for myself.

5 pictures are what I have gotten done so far. There is another blouse in the works, with a 3rd to follow when I get more time. I also have a pair of slacks and a jacket lined up, but no rush on those. Larisa

Hi Larisa, looked at the pictures. I love the moleskin skirt. Very nice fabric. The leather outfit is also just gorgeous. Is it real leather? WHere do you find that? It is hard to sew on? Thanks for sharing

Thanks Cea!! Hadn't thought about using the iron on interfacing to hold everything together. Will dig out my never-ending supply...lol

It was marked "NuBuck Leather" and I actually found it at WalMart when I was there for cheap fleece...lol. It was harder than cotton to sew, but other than that ....it was just fabric! I belog to pattern review, and they asked me all kinds of questions, like did I glue the seams, etc....um, Huh????? Told them there that, I saw it, liked it, stitched it up. Didn't see any reason to treat it as special, after all, it was JUST FABRIC!!! lol Have to lose a bit of weight before I can fasten the vest comfortably. Apparently I put back on the weight that I had lost - I'm a stress binger . Thanks for the compliments. I am currently working on another blouse since the first one didn't turn out to my liking. I think that one just needs some adjustments made in the knots/loops, but for right now, it can just sit on the dressmaker's dummy.

Larisa, old coat taken apart for pattern, new fabric all cut and marked. Time to finish *my* project, then I will get back to the coat reconstruction
