Question on glass darning eggs

When did the blown glass eggs first appear?

19th century or 20th? . .

The oldest ones I've had have been 1880-1890ish.

The OP sent me a private email with a link to a closed ebay auction for this item. The email address it was sent from was not valid, so a reply wasn't possible. The egg in question appeared to be a c.1890 blown MG egg that would have been used in a hens nest or possibly a whimsy (Easter decoration) with the cold paint decoration worn/cleaned away. Such things are shown in _The Colector's Encyclopedia of Milk Glass_ and in one of the Ruth Lee Webb books.

I used to use my real email address, but had to change it after being severely mailbombed by computers taken over by a "worm" that harvested email addresses from Usenet. After I sent the email, I realized my mistake in not including a reply address, so I sent a second email.

Thanks for the help! . .
