Just taking a guess (holding my hands out as a gauge) I would say

36-42 inches. Maybe 6-7 inches wide. How wonderful she asks for a goody like that!

Thanks Jean, She's a sweetheart and thinks her gramma can make and fix anything. I let her have her little fantasy whenever I can. Juno

Yeah, Juno, they grow up so fast! I try to make things for the DGC just to keep reminding them I can. They are in TX and I am in GA. Too far! Before Valentine's Day I sent DGD (just turned 8) several colors of bright felt, some colors of variegated embroidery thread, a few pretty buttons (3 were red hearts!) and some pinbacks. Cut out 3 sizes of heart patterns from cardboard, typed up instructions and send a sample pin I made. She, with help from her mom, made heart pins and necklaces, enough that every girl in her class at school got one! So she is learning, even in my absence. I'm not sure her mother can sew on a button, maybe she is learning too :-}

DGS got a pair of hand puppets made from scraps from my stash. Mr. Red and Mr. Blue, with button eyes and an embroidered smile. He is 3 and they were a hit. Of course I make them both clothes, too. When we are together GD and I try to fit in a little sewing together and she is learning to use a machine, mostly from her daddy, but it began with me. Fun! I gave her a book with simple doll clothes patterns for Xmas but we didn't get to make anything in the short time we had, but I left her with a half dozen cuts of small cotton prints, some trims (she loves ribbons and lace) so she could try it herself. I taught her dad to sew one summer when he was in his late teens; he asked to learn. Now he makes things for his sailboat on his own Singer 306.

All of the scarves that my 6yo has around here, boughten and made by me, are around the one meter mark.

Thanks Michelle, Between your 6yo and Jeans hand spread I feel comfortable with that length. Scarves always make me wonder. I don't want it to short and certainly not so long as to be a hazard. Juno

I wish DS in SC would start sewing again, he loved it when he was young. DGD would love it, besides if he had a machine, it would be nice when I visit. My DDIL doesn't want anything to do with sewing. Her DM did so much sewing for all the family, my DDIL grew to hate it. Emily

Wish I was closer to Sparkel City so that when you are in SC we could just run back & forth to see each other! Barbara in SC
