Racing silks

I feel like I took a step forward in my sewing skills and gained enormously in confidence in my abilities.................

My DSIL's niece is a really sweet young lady, a newly wed, who has her first sewing machine, and sewed the curtains in her new home, and that's all she's ever sewn. Her FIL has racing horses, and gave her a jacket, and asked her if she would make one, in different colors, and a little bigger. And he needed it by May 10th. Oh, he gave her some material.

She called my daughter in a panic, asking if I would help her. (I didn't know any of the above until she came over).

We tore the jacket apart the first evening, for our pattern. Then cut out and started sewing the second night, and completed it the third. Of course there were a few glitches, like we made the whole thing with the wrong side out, because we didn't know which was the right side of the material, so we took a guess, figuring we had a 50 - 50 chance.

Her FIL told her the last set he had made was 10 years ago and the seamstress charged him $250.00 I told Nicole her FIL owed her a BIGGGGG favor.
