Re-lining a coat

I have a favorite raincoat I intend to take to London, but it does not have a hood, so I bought some very similar fabric and made a button-on one. While I was doing that I kept looking at the hideous printed lining I have disliked since the day I bought it and decided to re-line it.

So I bought a couple yards of plain black Posh, and yesterday I spent way too much time ripping out the lining. It was not only lock-stitched, but serged, and then top-stitched! Argh! But it's out, and I'll use it as a pattern to make the new lining. I probably should have just made an entire new coat. :-} But I love the fit and style of this one, and now I'll enjoy it even more.

I finished it yesterday, and I'm really pleased. I also replaced all the buttons, and added a 'belt-saver' (the little doo-hickey which passes through a loop to prevent the belt from escaping). The hood is going to be a life-saver, I won't be struggling with an umbrella! Pics soon.

Thanks. Now to finish hemming a couple of pairs of slacks, and making a black rayon-blend jacket.
