Really baaaad habit

I have this habit, which always seems perfectly logical at the time, of buying fabric, pattern, notions, etc.,and making notes (like what the fabric content is, how much there is, and what I'm going to do with said fabric), and bundling it all up together to ripen in the stash. Problem with that is, sometimes I KNOW I have a particular pattern, but it's *not* in my pattern files.

I just was absolutely-for-sure *positive* I had a pattern very similar to what I wanted for the burn-out velvet, but I searched through all my patterns twice and could not find it.

Upshot is, I spent the last four hours re-organizing all my fabric stash, which needed it like crazy, putting like with like in clear plastic tubs (which I bought for the purpose three years ago), and I FOUND THE PATTERN!!!. It was with that gorgeous pale-to-dark blue ombre georgette I intended to make for myself for DD's wedding but ran out of time.

So tonight I'll get the pattern trimmed and make any alterations, and tomorrow I'll get going on the reunion outfit.

But it feels really good to have that job done, and I found some spectacular pieces of fabric. Some of them are almost ripe. Maybe I'll get the georgette made up for DGD's wedding.... ;-}

Just don't rush things. Fabric needs to age, to acquire the patina of antiquity.

DGD just turned 12, so I have lots of time. ;-)

It will go faster than you expect. The earth circles the sun slowly when we are young. As we mature, the speed picks up, and time goes much faster.

I think I have a few years on you, I've learned that lesson well. Do you also try to teach your old Granny to suck eggs? ;-)

Ha! IIRC, we share a birth year. BTW, my 50th high school reunion was two years ago. But I graduated at 16.

A work of art must be approached with respect, and savored. Michaelangelo didn't slap paint on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. He planned and considered, then took his time applying the paint. Such is the way of creativity.

Too right! I have a lovely bit of Jacob's Sheep wool just starting to murmmer about wanting to become a 'clo' (family singular of 'clothes'). It's been in the stash for over 20 years now. I think it was one of the foundation pieces! As yet the perfect pattern has not materialised...

As well you should. It's not something I achieved overnight, ya know.
