:-)) Let the idea settle and work around in your head for a while. Inspiration will come and you'll find the right thing to do at the right time.

That's a terrific idea! Is the patchwork going to be squares, or? Hope you will post a picture/pictures.

There's e-mail lists for recycling here in the USA, "Freecycle" lists. I cannot stand how ppl dump really news stuff, I've given away 2-3 rugs.

How's about starting a newsgroup dedicated to recycling and getting it off the sewing newsgroups?

This person showed up out of nowhere, with no posting history whatsoever, and tried to impose his/her rules on the newsgroup. That earns this person a place in my killfile. Who cares, indeed?

Nice? LOL! Not hardly! But for some reason, this ng draws the strangest assortment of trolls. It's a waste of energy to get upset with them. I prefer to remember that everyday they have to look in a mirror, and what do they see? Something not very nice.

Because some of the blazers (a couple seem to have come from the UK with a Picadilly address of the maker) the tailoring is quite involved and some of the pieces from them are really narrow in places. Of course these better tailored ones are also made of the best fabric (at least one of them is made of hand woven genuine Harris tweed).

I've been thinking that I might have to do a sort of modular patch. By that I mean that I'll work on multiples of 3 inch widths - for the narrow strips, they might be 3 inches and if I have enough fabric width, they might end up being 6 inches. As for the length of patches, they might vary.

Hope

I still haven't figured out how to do that yet. But given that I'm still unpicking and my sewing room is such a pigsty, posting pics may not be any time soon.

Sounds lovely. If there are pictures you'd let us see, you can email them to me and I'll put them on my web space and post links.

I am `collecting ` , more like not throwing away , all kinds of jeans leftovers. Many years ago i made my daughter a quilt like warm blanket , which she still uses , from jeans leftovers [ her request ] . But now i know it is too heavy for that , i ponder what to make with it ,,, Maybe a cover for my floor foot cushion ,, or weave some rag rug ...

Yesteday i found a very nice Big Recycled Plastic bin , that can be used as a big shopping bag , but i thought it might be a better place for some of the above leftovers , i am now handling.

Although we are still IN SUMMER , the weather looks like Autum, for some strange reason this time i always make APRONS .,,, Yes, Yes i know this is ever so arcahic ,,,,, but even in summer but esp in winter [warm clothes] , i hate that any cooking drops on my clothes , and while washing in the sink ,,,, it is better that the apron gets the humidity,,,

I cut a full length one have a neck strap ,, and 2 hip high ones to bind behind the back,,, Old skirts, old falling apart sheets, leftovers from other jobs , they look very alluring .....

Years ago i saw in a book "Cross Stitchery , needlepointing with yarns in a variety of decorative stitches , by JO Ippolito Christensen and Sonie Sahpiro Ashner , Sterling , 1973 , a pattern for Owl Apron -Tote bag , years ago made one for my late mother , Than over the years made several for friends ,,, the first one i embroidered , the later ones i make from a base, but i adorn =strengthen it with crazy patchworking, with my leftovers ,,, mirjam a bag that could be used as handcraft bag but also ,m
