royal colors

okay everybody...other than purple, what colors make you think of a royal room?? I don't want the master bedroom of the new house to be the last one I tackle (like it was in the current house). We are toying with giving it the royal treatment, but aren't really sure. It is currently mint green, and while neither of us really loves it, combining it with ice blue with gold accents is something else we are thinking about.

How about it....what're yout thoughts??

As far as reflecting our personalities, we each have our own space for that - DH will have an office space remade to look like the captains quarters of an old sailing ship, and I get to have my own sewing room...stillunsure of how wild I want to get in there, but do know that I am putting down hardwood flooring....

thanks bunches!!

Lena sez to Ole, "Ole, with all this garage sale money I tink I'll fix up our bedroom."

Ole sez to Lena, "Lena, whatchu gonna do to it?"

Lena sez, "aw, y'know, the royal treatment...velvet curtains, gold trims on the drapes, and over the bed, a canopy."

Ole sez, "that is UNDER the bed and that's where it's gonna stay!"

My DS & DDIL painted their den in a Forest Green and a deep burgundy. The green was above the chair rails and the burgundy below. Looks fantastic. I love the rose beige for myself in my bedroom. Emily

OK, then explain to me why they take a pretty nice house and redo it so that it looks like a dog threw up? I get so puzzled at the shows on HGTV. Even the shows where three different designers submit a plan, they seem invariably to pick the worst of the three. Every once in a while, they do a decent job, but way too often they make drastic changes just for the sake of change. Don't even talk to me about knocking out walls and boarding up windows.

Just got a message that this week's show (broadcast Saturdays, sometimes repeated on Sundays) will be a re-run of their annual joke show. Worth a listen!
