Scaling details on patterns

Boy, am I feeling chatty tonight! I am about a size 20 US, but I find that commercial patterns do not bother to change the scale of the details from small sizes to large ones. For instance, I made a nice floaty dress with ties at the back. The ties were just there to draw the waist in and provide a little back-interest. The photo of the dress on the pattern showed a nice wide tie, tapering a little to the end. The actual pattern piece for the tie only changed in length from size to size, not width. So those ties that were nice wide ties on the size 6 model looked like mistaken afterthoughts on my size 20 dress. I had just enough fabric left over to remake the ties. I ended up doubling them in width to get the same proportion as the pattern photo showed. Are there any multi-sized patterns out there that address this issue?
