What machine did you buy?
Andrea
A Brother 1034D. The quote below was from the Allbrands.com site.
"We also carry the Brother 1034D serger, which has many more features than most sergers and comes at a great price."
It may not have everything but then I won't really notice will I ? No, I decided to start the business I've had in mind for years and I don't think standard "loving hands at home" look will cut it when trying to sell dresses etc to the public. So I decided to get a basic machine to finish edges for a more professional appearance.
Gee, I just noticed I forgot a word or two in a sentence from the previous posting. "Now, to let DH [know about it] before it arrives..."
Now that I've brought up starting the business I've thought, I can't be cutting out one item at a time. Was the discussion on this list or another about electric shears/cutters? What was the consensus?

You wouldn't expect a retailer to say anything negative about a product they are selling do you? :)

*I* bought one of those back in June, and I LOVE IT!!!
It does more than just basics , without doign the cover stitch. :) I bought it for the free arm feature, which I use quite a lot. I have it for that ans ad a back-up: my main serger is a Bernina 1150D. For a machine that was less than half the price of the Bernina, the Brother is VERY impressive. Does a glorious rolled hem.
And there was I thinking you were going to let him out round the middle for Christmas... ;)
You're better off with a rotary cutter, basically. :)
This is exactly what turned my attention from another machine the White2000ATS to the Brother.
Must be a local expression "round out the middle"? I don't know what you mean by that
Cutting multiple layers? Won't there be distortion?

Now... to get the rest of this act together.... AK in PA
Let *him* out, rather than his trousers... ;)
I cut up to 10 no trouble when doing patchwork. You just need a large size rotary cutter and to learn to keep the blade virtical.
Remember insurance for you and the machines, and to cost your time realistically. :)
