serger being a beast ! Help

The other day I was trying to make a shawl out of a piece of =interlock I have in my stash. I wanted to put a rolled hem on it. The serger absolutely refused to make stitches. Yesterday I tried again and same thing. I unthreaded it and started from scratch, watched the video to be sure I was doing everything correctly, Changed the needle 4 times and still nothing. Today I decided to chage the setting to a 3 thread overlock. Still no luck. I then took out the needle and moved it to the left hand position, rethreaded the needle and it sewed like a dream. Anyone have any suggestions. I'll take it into the shop tomorrow if I can't come up with something tonight or early tomorrow morning. Of course today was the day I set aside to do a top for a DDG. I put that project off until Wednesday with hopes I can get straightened out before that. If I can't I'll do it on my regular machine. Thanks, Juno
