sewing gift at church

In the past week, while scouting at JoAnns, I have run into 2 ladies from church (neither of which I knew sewed!). Today, one of the ladies presented me with a bag of patterns, including one dress that has been cut put but never finished. She felt kind of bad when she heard that I only have 7 weeks left because they are all maternity patterns.

I reminded her that I won't be back down to a size 10-12 immediately, so I could still use the patterns. Granted, they would all be considered "retro" (late 70s, early 80s), but.....there are long sleeve shirt patterns, and I don't have any clothes to wear for the fall (and who knows when that is in upstate NY??!!!).

The best find for me, besides the shirt patterns, is the nursing nightgown and nursing top...One could always make do with regular button-up shirts, but it would be nice in teh beginning to have a nursing top or two.

Anyway, that was my gift today. Oh, I also got a gift from my "secret sister".......a gift certificate and a menu to my favorite Chinese food restaurant (that even delivers!!!)

Larisa, pretty dang happy, even though I didn't get a nap today

P.S. DS didn't take a nap either (the reason I didn't get one), but he got introduced to the wonders of making his own bed (with my help) and scrubbing out the inflatable pool.....messy, messy, messy, but loads of fun, and we both ended up soaked and laughing

Thanks Karen...it almost completely floored me, but then I thought about the trouble I would have getting back up and was able to retain my equilibrium

Oh, oh, I know this one! Although it depends on exactly what you mean by upstate. There's anything north of NYC, there's the north country (north of Albany) and then there's western NY. I know in Troy and Saratoga, fall comes in around September, or at least it used to. Taking our Lake George vacation in late August was a gamble. Back to school really did mean plaids and courdroy! There may have been a few sweaty days, but not a lot. Good luck!

Larissa, where in upstate NY are you? I'm in Clifton Park--just wondering who else on the group is from my area. Barbara of the Eastons
