Sheepskin coat buttons

I have just been given a sheepskin coat which is a little tight. Moving the buttons would give the extra give that I need! I tried removing 1 button but a hole was left behind (the buttons screw together through the thickness. The coat is double breasted. Is there a clever person amongst you who could give me any ideas how I might be able to overcome this problem?

Perhaps you could put toggles on it instead of buttons. With a bit of a shank it might make a few millimeters of room for you? Or put loops on the buttonhole side? That or take to the inside of the coat with a pair of shears!

;)

Cheers, Fey.

Many thanks - I will endeavour to scour the button shops. I did think of loops but wasn't sure what to use. Leather would be the ideal but not sure how I would fix them to the coat - by hand I presume? The coat is too good to take to the shears!!
