Singer 306w

Just was given an older sewing machine. A Singer 306w. It was working fine until the bobbin ran out. Now I can't get the bobbin and the needle to connect. Seems like the needle isn't long enough. Can anyone help me. It's my first time sewing. Thanks!

Since it was "working fine until the bobbin ran out" than it's unlikely to be a question of the needle being too short.

It's possible that after you wound the new bobbin that you inserted the bobbin in the case improperly, didn't get the bobbin thread under it's tension spring.... Or, perhaps you disturbed the upper (needle) thread threading path?

If you hold both the needle and bobbin threads together behind the presser foot and turn the flywheel with your free hand (with the foot down), does it form a stitch?

If you replaced the needle, be sure it is inserted properly, usually with the long groove toward the front (but I'm not familiar with your particular machine).

'll see how the stitch is *supposed* to be formed. Do you have the manual?

You will want to refer to the threading diagrams in the manual for threading instructions on both the needle and the bobbin, as well as cleaning, oiling, and routine maintenance and usually, some pretty good sewing hints and tips.

Did you change the needle when you put in a new bobbin? The 306 uses a

206X13 needle, not a "regular" needle.
