Singer update

Looks like Singer does not care that the public finds their action unreasonable. They still will not return calls or answer emails. I sent one a couple weeks ago with directions to this group and the threads with all your comments and support. Thank you all for the support. Be assured I have for 26 of 28 years in business survived without selling Singer sewing machines and will for as long as I am in business. I will still be here to answer questions and help where I can. Take a look at the little surprise I have for them

Ron, if you haven't sold any Singer machines for 26 years, it looks like you and Singer don't really need each other so what's the fuss about? Your call for a "boycott" of Singer is petty, but some of the combative types here get off on that sort of thing and you'll get some attaboys.

Thanks for your many contributions to this group. You have a lot of patience trying to diagnose peoples problems remotely when they should obviously read their owners manual or take their machine to a dealer for service. You probably get a chuckle out of hearing about a needle bar hitting a hook, though. JPBill

"...Under paragraph 5 of the Authorized Singer Sewing Specialty Retailer Agreement, you are obligated to discontinue the use and display of the trademarks and trade names of the Singer Sewing Company effective immediately and cease holding yourself out as an Authorized Singer Sewing Specialty Retailer, including the use of trademarks and tradenames in the yellow pages, white pages and Internet."

I would not care to tackle their deep pockets on a trademark infringement case.

Best wishes,

Beverly

Just get yourself into the Bernina biz. My choice of machine.

Ron, I am just amazed at the lack of reason. I would think they would have to give you **SOME** kind of reason for terminating your contract. That's the thing that just amazes me. *sigh*

I too understand your frustration with Singer. They are big and don't care about individual dealers. I do agree with Beverly about pulling your reference to them on your web site. I'm afraid it could come back to hurt you. As you said, you have gotten along with out them in the past, perhaps it would be best to leave it that way. I know it's a matter of pride of reputation that hurts so much, however they had no problem coming after you once and may will feel that they should come after you again, because they are so big and can do it. What matters to those of us who have dealt with you here and through your business know that you are good at what you do and that's what counts. Word of mouth can do you a lot of good. And as most posters here know we have mouth. I will recommend you to anyone who wants to know about you. Why not put something like that on your web page? You know the kind of thing I mean, "What others say about me."

Ron, I totally agree with Juno & Beverly. Again, I appreciate all the help you have given us on the sewing groups. I suppose, I've bought my last Singer machine when I sent the one for my great-niece recently. Hancock's has it on display in their stores now. Emily
