It isn't only the low priced things. Walk around a store like Macy's, Sax Fifth Avenue and other very high priced stores. It's hard to find a top that cost $50,$100 and even $200, thats well made and made in this country. I have never been one to shop the high price places but I have always looked to see what they are offering. I hate shopping for RTW for just that reason. I also hate shopping RTW because so little of it fits. Juno

Doreen, this is not a new phenomenon. Sadly, the textile and clothing industry has been slowly seeping out of the US since the mid-70's.

Yep. And the auto industry (the Ford plant where DH worked closed in the mid 80s because production was cheaper in Mexico), and goodness knows how many other kinds of manufacture.

I suppose the only reason textile plants stayed in the South til the 90s was because COL and wages were lower here.
