So is this a deal I should take--not OT

My friend and I have in the past said we love our sewing machines, but it might be nice if we could find an embroidery only machine to have that option. Our requirements up to now have been embroidery only and not expensive because a) our sewing machines have all the other features we want and are fairly new and b) neither one of us thinks we'd use embroidery all that much.

We've found a pretty good deal on Brother 150V which seems like the ticket. We talked to my dealer today and the machine itself seems to be something that at least I would want. But the more we look into this the more questions we have.

We both want to be able to download designs from the internet and M. thinks she wants to be able to digitize. Both of us run Macs with Virtual PC.

PED-Basic would allow the downloads, which is fine. But the brother site is silent on whether it will run on a Mac with VPC. It does say the the PE-Design "is not supported for Macs" Does that mean it won't run in VPC at all or that if its used in VPC you can't get tech support.

Further, if M. gets PE-Design the software will cost more than the machine. She found Amazing Designs Click and Sew which might work, but again we have the issue of Mac-compatiblity. Plus, she'd have to get the box too, which makes it almost as expensive as the Brother software. Is this worth it and would it work okay with PED-Basic?

Also, could the blank memory cards be reused or would we have to get new ones each time we want a new design?

Is there an option or machine we've overlooked?

And finally, are we just insane for thinking we could have the fun of embroidery somewhat "on the cheap."
