some OT and some sewing

You were all so kind and listened to my concerns about my friend who has melanoma. She got her second biopsy report back today and it's normal. I'm so relieved. I was so worried about her. Thanks so much for being a sounding board for me. Now I just have to get Bill over this miserable sinus infection he has and get the car fixed. I hadn't said anything before this but we were involved in an accident Saturday night. Someone rear ended us. The car is in the repair shop now. No one was hurt but it's an inconvenience. Once Bill feels better he can measure me. All this has given me time to read the directions for my jacket several times. That's a big help for me. I have also done a thorough review of the alterations I know I'll have to make and the light bulb has finally clicked on. I hope to pick up some flannel Thursday for the interlining. I've decided I'll use the neon green lining fabric I bought for the floral fabric on the green twill. I also purchased the Amy Butler jacket pattern from Quilt House in Washington. It came in 2 days. I've had time to study that too and it has given me some good hints on fabric matching. Juno

That is such good new! Best wishes for her continued good health.

Oh, c--p! It's wonderful that neither of you was hurt, but I know how trying it is to have your car in the shop for repair. I hope the other driver had good insurance.

Juno, You just have to put up pics! That's an order. ;-)

I told her we have to celebrate. That means I make her a really special lunch, check the waistband elastic I put in a skirt for her, measure her hem and finish the skirt. It also means a very decadent dessert

The insurance thing went very smooth. She admitted she was wrong and that takes care of it. The place that is doing the repair is very reliable so we have no problems there.

I promise. Just bear with me. I work very slow and if it continues to be so cold that slows me down more because the sewing room is in the basement and the floor get very cold and I don't like to stay there for long. Juno

YAY!

I was very fortunate when I was rear-ended as well. She admitted liability AND two policemen were witnesses. Doesn't get much better than that. ;-)

Ok, I'll cut you some slack. A picture in today's Oregonian was mind-numbing! Four-foot icicles...

Sunday night it was -11, Monday morning at 8:30 it was -13,. We warmed up to 11 about during the heat wave. Today we heat a scorching 25. Tonights going to be a warm 10 to 15 and tomorrow we may hit 32. I hope I don't need the air conditioner in that kind of heat. Juno

Great and bad at the same time. It is really great news about your friend; hopefully she will soon be completely well. Most of us know how horrible it is to have an accident and have the car in the shop for a while. Maybe the damage wasn't too bad and the repairs won't take long and not cost too much.

I'm glad the other driver had good insurance.

A good meal with a decadent dessert sounds like a perfect celebration for your friend.

when reading her email. As far as the car goes we know the costs are covered. We've talked to both our insurance company and the other drivers and they said there is no problem about covering all the costs. The inconvenience is even moderated by the snow and my husband not feeling well. I won't drive if it's snowing and he just doesn't feel well enough to drive. He went back to the doctor today and he pretty much said it will get better. Juno

I thought something with tons of chocolate would be a perfect dessert. Juno

(and I have the newsgroups set up on my laptop, finally. We are migrating to a new PC also, so it's been a cyber wreck around here!!! lol)

Enjoy your new laptop. We would like to get one sometime in the near future. Then we could take it to the Cape with us. a lot better than trying to get use of a computer in the library. it just seems like there's always something else that has to be taken care of first. Bill was able to get some measurements on me yesterday. I think he's finally feeling a bit better or just knows how much I want to get something started on my jacket. He said he could measure me if he didn't have to bend down. He's had a lot of vertigo and had to go back to the doctor again yesterday. Doctor said the sinus infection has messed up his inner ear. He's on medication for that too. He does feel somewhat better today. Today I 'm going to cut out the paper pattern and then make a copy of it. I want the copy because of all the alterations I have to do first. FBA, high round back, back length, add inches to the sides and probably shorten the overall length. I've been reading all about alterations on a pattern and figured that since I have to cut so much and it's not something I've done alot I'd rather do it on a copy of the pattern and save the original for now.
