Sources for fiberfill

I'm going to be making several stuffed animals and minky pillows for babies and young children. I am at a loss in finding a good quality polyester fiberfill. Sandra Betzina suggests Hobbs Polydown Fiberfill however, I cannot find any store locally which carries the product (I live in North San Diego). Can anyone suggest a source for good quality fiberfill. I have tried all quilt and craft stores in the area and all they carry is batting. Has anyone had good luck with the various fiberfill's at Jo Ann's or Hancock's? If so, I would appreciate the brand name and the name of the product. Thanks, Christy Woodbridge

Actually I wouldn't mind the same answer but for suppliers in Australia. Thank you so much.

Just curious - how would you guys define a "good" fiberfill? I use stuff from Hancock's, but I'm not going to swear it isn't cruddy. It is just the only type I've ever used. And hey! It has a free pattern on the bag. ;)

Godd fill is an even texture all the way through: light and fine and fluffy and an even white, like a good qualitu hollofil duvet. Cheaper fill can come in clumps, can be a rougher, coarser to the touch, and may not be as white. The cheapest is made from recycled PET bottles, and is excellent for all sorts of uses, but tends to be grey or black and quite rough to handle.

I'd check the Clotilde.com and the joann.com web sites, or contact Hobbs directly via the internet. When all else fails, sit down and go shopping :)

I have used Fairfield's Poly-fil, it's 100%pure polyester fiber, and it has never bunched or clumped up in the countless stuffed animals I've made for my children, DGC, and many nieces/nephews. It is very white in color and washes well, too. I have purchased it at both JoAnne's and Hancock's. I am in no way affiliated with any of the above companies. There is a wonderful store in Redondo Beach, The Cotton Shop at 1922 Artesia Blvd. where you might find Hobbs Polydown. Or do as someone else suggested, look at Hobb's website. HTH, Emily
