Swimwear help!

doreen, sory i took it the wrong way. i have just heard these kinds of comments too often to shrug them off. youth is not a character flaw, just a temporary state, filled with possibilities and challenges, not the least of which are those who cannot imagine that the coltish advances of fledgling adulthood can mature to respectful accomplishments.

i'm glad you managed to put your daughter through college; she is indeed lucky to have you for a mother. i am not asking anyone to put me through college; only to understand that if i have difficulty mustering enthusiasm for a craft that is a necessity right now, not a labour of love, i hope they will understand my reluctance to take my place patiently at the back of line in the sewing hierarchy.

melinda, many thanks for the thoughtful reply; i do appreciate it. i sense that you really understand, and i'm sure you have more important things to do than reply to some stupid girl trying to make her way into adulthood. if you ever get over to this side of bart, please drop by cathy jean in serramonte and say hello. i would love to see you!! i work wed-sundays, late afternoon and evening. thanks again!!

'forgot more than you will even know' has a pretty clear meaning.

your last paragraph assumes you have some idea of my past life--you don't! i am not trying to hand anyone the 'poor pitiful me' line, just asking not to be told how limited my possibilities are, just because i am young and sometimes flailing.

as far as having a clue about 'real life', i would be more than happy to continue this conversation in private; it would not be appropriate here. you can always reply privately if you are interested.

Here's a health tip that will surely add to your lifespan. Take a deep breath and let it go. It's only a Usenet discussion ferchrissakes. Wasn't that like two weeks ago? Get over it already.

kate--you are a princess!! you have earned far more of my admiration than you may realise. i am sorry to have been rude. it was not in response to anything you said, but i am sorry if it seemed that way. in any case i will keep you thoughts, ideas, and kindness in mind always.

julie, if you look at the data, they show very different trends for those of normal weight and those who are obese. the prevalence of obesity--and rising incidence among the youth--are clearly skewing the longevity trend dramatically. at this point is is necessary to specify the population cohort when citing average lifespan. given the junk i see my friends eating these days, i am not surprised.

take at look at this link; it is a very dramatic illustration of how obesity has become anepidemic in the past 20 years:

Well, I *wasn't* interested, yet you invaded my personal email because you felt like it. You weren't invited to email me directly, and as such, you have been reported to the email abuse/spam minions. Thank you and have a nice day

You gals are killing me. Good Grief, Larissa, if you don't want to recieve emails off usenet, why do you have a functional email reply address? If you are making your email address available to the world, you don't get to be choosy about who sends you email and send them little invitations to communicate with you. That is the dumbest thing I've ever heard of, having a functional email available on usenet that is available to anyone on the planet who can use google, and then complaining when you got something annoying. It's less stressful to use your delete key.

Again, a case of you demonstrating your "know-it-all" atittude...this discussion was about swimwear help, let's get back to that, not you basically stating that Kate is wrong about her own bust measurement, not YOU slamming others who are trying to be helpful, and not YOU shoving information in our faces when, to tell you the truth, we don't really need to read them on a sewing group!! Take them to a health-oriented group or shove them out the window, but your consistent and repetitive attacks are only making you look more the fool and more than likely encouraging more people to refuse you any more advice and help.

You do have an option....sit here and bitch to a newsgroup about sewing, or just get off your lazy ass and sew. Then, once you have finished something, take a week or so off and have a good time....this is the "poor pitiful me" attitude that was mentioned...grow the hell up

And THIS is the attitude that you take when people are trying to help you. If you don't change your atittude, you may find yourself with no job (since you stated that your boss requested you make the wardrobe change) and definitely a reputation as a tramp. I wonder, have you ever asked yourself how much your choice in wardrobe and presentation has cost the store in customers?? If not, you might want to think about it. A store is only as good as the people who work there, and I don't see myself EVER shopping at a store where you work, not just because of your apparel, but because of your attitude....oh, and since you were kind enough to mention your store and the location and hours you work there, I wouldn't be too shocked if your boss gets calls regarding your attitude towards her simple request for more appropriate apparel.

L, and YES, I can be that evil to those who deserve it.

It's an **IDIOM**, like saying, "your eyes are bigger than your tummy" is an idiomatic way of saying that you took a certain amount of food but found that it was more than you could eat, not that you literally have big eyes or a tiny stomach.

My heart went out to you because it sounded like you were offended by what I saw as innocent comments, and I went and read where you hang out on Usenet at Google Groups, and I gather that English is your second language -- perhaps that is the root of the miscommunication here, and maybe before getting upset you might want to ask if you read the message that was meant to be sent.

..but apparently not smart enough to avoid retaliation, sweetheart: your name, address, phone number, ages of your kids, and employment history (JoAnn Fabrics, Home Depot, Sears, waitress, etc...) are public infomation, just out there for anyone to find.

fortunately i am not that evil, but please be careful about making such threats when you are so exposed--there may be someone else who *can* be that evil.

let's just lighten up. i apologise for being a pain, and i will try to do better. i am just a little stresses these days.
