Take pity on me I have no Fabric left in my stash!!!!

Yikes, what I thought was a good start to a stash has disapeared except for some nice satin promised to DH for a dress shirt, and some ugly table cloth stuff that I should throw out.

Leaves me wondering what happened? What did I do with it all.....am I losing my mind? LOL too funny.

What the heck am I going to sew now? I have been putting of DH's shirt forever because he hates everything I have ever made and I couldn't bear to have him never wear it or not like it after I work hard on it.

Now I have a mischievious thought......a nice black dress shirt for DH that just happens to not fit him, but fits me and is made from one of my womens patterns? "geez honey I don't know how that happened, the shirt must have shrunk? And of course there are supposed to be darts in mens clothing......."

Simple, *don't* *sew* *for* *him*! My DH *loved* everything I ever made for him, bragged about me whenever anyone mentioned his new shirt-suit-slacks-sweater-whatever, and so it was pure pleasure to make things for him. If he had treated me like yours is treating you, he would never have had a *second* chance to do so.

YMMV

I really should have clarified what I meant by he doesn't like what I sew. I never made anything for him.....yet......so he doesn't like the things I make for myself, he seems ok with what I make for the kids. Too bad for him that he doesn't have my fashion sense!

This shirt will be his first chance, if he doesn't like it then he never gets anything again!

Be blowed to that. Just make yourself something nice, and if he says anything tell him straight "I'm fed up sewing for everyone else and never me - and you wouldn't have worn it anyway". Trust me, I spent nearly 20 years with someone who was snide about the stuff I made - it's not worth agonising over.

I seriously wouldn't bother, particularly anything that time-consuming. If you feel really guilty, settle for a pair of shorts or trackies that are done in half an hour.

Oh, and while you're at it, just explain how dangerous it would be if you ever found him cutting wallpaper with your fabric scissors...

Realize that it's not about you; it's his hang-up. DH grew up very poor and wore donated clothing to school, where he was taunted. He has a difficult time trying to get over that and some days he'll wear something I've made; some days he won't. And, it has to be made perfectly. No off seams, no threads hanging, no "repairs".

Just go out and buy yourself something sexy, gorgeous and beautiful and make it for you--you deserve something nice too! If you try to finish his shirt knowing how he'll feel about it, it will only turn out wrong and you'll be doomed for failure.

Yes, I think it might be something to do with the fact that I make it at home, therefore it must be "home-made". I honestly don't agree my stuff is homemade, when I first started it was very "home-made" but not anymore. In-fact yesterday I gave out presents for 2 sisters, one mother and one grandmother with birthdays in march. 3 out of 4 got something I made, and 2 of them were clothing. my mother got a blazer and my 10yo sis got a handkerchief asymetrical knit skirt (she picked the style weeks ago, she LOVES it). The Grandmother got a wall hanging flower thing and the 13yo sister got jewlery and accessories. Wanted to get the 13yo the book "are you there god its me margaret" but couldn't find it.......bookstore was sold out.

I think I have babbled enough for now.....lol

Are you there god its me margaret IS a great book for a young girl, isn't it? My mother got it for me, I don't know what happened to it. I should check her house before I get my DSis a copy, because I never thought till now that she might already have mine, and maybe even have read it.

I am relatively new to sewing, but I have dedicated alot of time over the past few years to learning, at some points about 16 hours a day while caring for the new baby and other kids. They were good about it, sort-of! So I guess that would average out to alot of time, I never thought of that before.

ACK! I am obsessed! Help me!!!!

Michelle Giordano sometimes I crack myself up!

ps thanks for the link on that book!

Does "S.E.X" stand for something........or do you mean (gasp***) sex?

LOL we are still newly weds (not quite 2 years).

One thing I wish I would have done was made my own wedding gown, but at that time I only had enough skill to make simple flower girl dresses, and I only made them because spending $50(canadian) on two dresses for my girls was in our budget, while spending over $200 was not. After that I realized that I enjoyed sewing so much that I wanted to learn everything I could! I made things I would never need just to learn the techniques!

LOL you are too funny Maureen! (S.E.X)

Michelle, come take some of mine. It is taking over my apartment and making me grouchy. I love it all, but it's under foot! Oh how I wish I had time to use it.

S.E.X I can't believe that actually stands for something.

I think you need some vertical storage! Yeah Storage! (said in cheerleader style!) I am hooked on this storage trend, although I haven't actually jumped on the storage wagon yet.

I definitley need a stash enhancing expedition!
