Thank you all!!!

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! After reading numerous threads about threads I bit the bullit and bought some Mettler thread for my current project. What a difference!! My machine runs like it just rolled off the show room floor! No more tangles, snags and I have beautiful seams! I am literally THRILLED with the change. I was raised with the good old "Coats and Clark' thread and never, ever thought something as simple as thread could make such a *huge* difference.

Thank you all again!

Yes; sometimes we forget the 2 most important parts of the sewing machine are the needle and thread.

We are fortunate to sew at a time of burgeoning great threads! The proliferation of (more sensitive) embroidery machines have nicely contributed to the need for better, lint-free, properly twisted threads. And the price is coming down as well. Beware of any threads coming from China as they simply do not have the consistency and quality control of quality European, Japanese and American made threads as yet. Anyone wanting a really good thread education should read these highly informative files:

Watch for thread sales of the really good brands and build up your supply then. Even Joann has Mettler and Gutermann on sale for 50% off occasionally. You can also sign up for email newsletters from websites that specialize in thread and have fabulous sales now and then.

The next most fruitful lesson we learn in sewing is to have a broad supply of needles on hand and to change your needle for every 5-6 hours of sewing (if not more often with high speed and decorative sewing).
