Makes me really mad that UK fabric like Makower is cheaper to buy from the states and ship BACK! GRRRR!

Mind you, there are some UK sources that produce really interesting fabrics, like The African Fabric Shop - love Maggie Relph's indigos, but be careful - the fabric is narrower and more substantial than ordinary quilting cotton.

good place to get decent quilt fabrics are reasonable prices (as in less than most highstreet shops) is Dainty Supplies in Washington New Town. Every time I take a trip up there to visit the FIL and friends, we stay with the friends, and they live just a mile from the shop, so I get to walk up there and spend an hour or two browsing the quilt fabrics, the bridal stuff, the boning and ribbons... :) Dainty do a price list, but they don't list all the quilting cottons. It really is best if you go there. I get FQ priced from about 60p up to £2.50. For the real low-down on quilty things, come over and join us at rec.crafts.textiles.quilting: the biggest cyber quilt frame in the world! Very friendly family, but eats advertisers and spammers for breakfast! ;)
