thanks to all, and progress report

I wanted to thank all of the members who replied when I asked what you would like in your sewing room (DH wants me to upgrade to a more "professional" room since we are hoping I'll do well with my sewing business).

As of right now I have an awesome HEAVY iron for pressing, a seam roll and pressing ham, new, wider ironing board, some storage conatiners both lidded and non-lidded (I'm planning on using the open bins to hold projects in the order that they need to be completed...everything for that project will fit nicely in the tote so I can just grab-n-go).

Today I'm cleaning out the miscellaneous crap that has gotten stashed in my room - no reason to keep all the gift boxes from the past Christmas and round of birthdays, they can be recycled and out of my way.

We have decided against making one large closet - DH didn't realize that there was a potential support beam between the 2 closets. Instead, I will be getting new shelving for the closet closest to the sewing/cutting area (where the window is) and reorganizing to where it is logical - similar things stored together instead of scattered.

Once that is done, we will see what else can be tweaked, repurposed, or gotten rid of.

SO, thanks again for the ideas. I made a complete list and am slowly working through it. Still looking at the room layout to see where storage can go, etc (dowels and such), but at least I have gotten started on "proper" storage.

Larisa, avoiding the 1st communion dress for a little while longer because: a) it's white, b) it's extremely slippery, c) it's using Mom's wedding dress lace....I need total focus on it because I don't have any extra lace to work with...argh!
