The Perfect Sewing Room

Saw this in the newspaper this a.m., and am now in lust. Check out cabinfever.us.com I'm partial to the 'zip' model, with lots of light.Just think, you could have a sewing or art studio for under $20,000.U.S. Well, that was fun. (No affiliation) Back to sewing presents. Cea

I'd love to live in a little house like that. Maybe put one up in one of my kids back yard. Juno

They're ideal for that purpose, Juno. Many cities now not only allow, but encourage them. They're great "mother-in-law" houses and also rentals. The people two doors down from us built an apartment on top of their detached two-car garage for her father. It's a lovely place. Except for the stairs.

Great idea, Juno--if you get mad at them, you can just pack up your house and leave. These are a good solution for coastal living, too. Though I had to laugh at the little house on the back of the truck. Anyone here remember Joe Bifspic from the Sunday funnies? Wasn't he the character who owned an identical home-on-wheels? Still, not much room in some of them for the sewing habit. And one looks just like a seatainer, even down to the rusty finish. Cea

I asked my daughter if she would be willing to build one in her back yard for me to live in when I'm too old and decrepit to do the stairs.

She want to build one at the beach instead. I'm good with that! ;-)

You wish to be swept away with the next storm?

Our storms are not nearly as fierce as Sandy, and the town on the beach I would build in (if I could afford a lot, which I can't) has areas with enough elevation so flooding is not a problem.

----------------------- Well, if you put the wee house on wheels, who has to worry about flooding? That would make it a version of Indian tents--you just pack up and go when Mother Nature gets bitchy. Cea
