Threads magaizine

I just have to brag. Had a birthday yesterday and my wonderful parents got me a 2-yr subscription to Threads magazine. I can't wait! And my in-laws in Oslo sent cash so I am subscribing to the Norwegian equivalent of Burda ("Alt om håndarbeid" for you Scandinavians). It has loads of current patterns every month, you know the kind you have to trace off. And I got 2 seam rippers from DSIL and 4 fancy appliques from the in-laws. All in all, it was a good haul.

Indeed, I made a whopping cheesecake (5 pkg of cream cheese, 6 eggs and heavy cream, topped with strawberries). Thanks for your kind thoughts. Does Threads have patterns?

I always at least flip through my copy of Threads as soon as it arrives! They are a treat to read, although I find I rarely use the "fancy" ideas in them. But there are good directions for necessary things like fitting pants, changing a pattern for details, that sort of thing. I keep them all for reference. Enjoy!

And there is a website:

you can read some articles now.Jean M.

No patterns, but lots of information on adapting a basic pattern to add interesting details.

Happy Birthday, dear Kirsten!

But, aren't you a little offended that your DSIL thinks you need *two* seam rippers? Yikes! ;->

Yeah, that's funny but last year I wished for 6 and she got me 4. I have one left so I wished for another six but she has decided it is a waste of money I guess (where do they go?) so compromised on 2.

I change alot of coat zippers and they dull fast. Not brave enough to try Cea's surgical seam rippers yet. Had too many close calls (with other peoples jackets)

No patterns, but the occasional cutting diagram.

Threads is an odd sort of magazine for me... I like it a lot, but often on first reading, there's not a whole lot of interest to me. So I skim it, put it away for awhile (sometimes months or years), and when I come back to it, there's a whole new crop of ideas or techniques I want to try. Not a magazine to discard once you've read through it once or twice, imo.

Must be hiding out with the sox from the wash! :->

Ah, that would explain it.

BTW, "the order" is in, expected to ship (here) in about 10 days. Happy dance.

One on the sewing machine, one on the monitor table, one in the sewing stand in the living room, one in my suitcase. (A single-edge razor blade fits better in the sewing kit in my billfold.)

The monitor-table ripper has gone walkies again -- nothing there but two razor blades, a stack of press cloths, three spray bottles, a slice of sponge, an empty chip bowl, and a stack of paperwork.

I only listed what was *supposed* to be there.

Candy wrappers are rare around here, though I did find a Starlight Mint wrapper in my coat pocket the last time we went for a walk. I roodled earnestly, but didn't find any

*occupied* wrapper :-(
