Tiny help needed!

I have a request for any doll dressers out there...

I have been sent a request for Napoleonic and other uniform items for a

1/6th scale action figure. I'm looking for good sources of miniature regimental tartans, buttons, braid, cording and trims, and also wool fabrics, or cottons. I have some of the commercially produced uniforms to skim patterns from, and frankly, the trims are naff in the extreme. I need better fine fabrics and much nicer trims and mini buttons.

This little fella is about GI Joe/Action Man sized, but a more realistic shape and much more posable.

Suggestion if you get really stuck on the buttons... there's a relatively new product out called "metal clay" that can be molded and kiln fired and leaves behind basically pure metal. You may be able to find someone ' locally that can do it for you.

There are silver, copper, bronze and gold metal clays...

and I'm told they hold very fine detail. I'm supposed to be going to the Oregon glass guild show this weekend, and should see some metal clay people. If this sounds interesting, I can try to get an idea of how fine the detail can be.

And you don't even need a kiln to fire it - a good gas hotplate or a tiny gas gun works as well.

Thank you both. I shall certainly keep it in mind if I get problems. I think the customer has a source for some regimental buttons, but iff not, we can certainly look at this as an option. :)

Saw some fired today at the glass show... yes, it can pick up the tiny veinlets in ginkgo leaves, so it should be able to produce small buttons with it.

The buttons may be as small as 1/16" across! I'll see if I can get a bit to experiment with if we can't find the buttons we need.
