today's project

I started working on the bib apron for DSIL. Big paisley to match. It took me an hour to figure out how to do it. It's a little off but not by much. I'm working on it to get the next one better, Beverly and Sharon. I'm having fun challenging myself doing things I haven't do in about 100 years. Every time I try something different I know how much more I enjoy sewing. It's great to have the time to be able to figure out these little problems. Juno

Challenging projects exercise the synapses! ;-) That's a very good thing.

Yesterday, I repaired an apron I made for DD several years ago, the ties and neck strap had shredded in the wash. I bought some red poly blend and was about to tear strips when I had a thought: I wonder if I still have largish scraps from making the apron? I dug through the scrap pile, and discovered that I did! And, after tearing strips for the ties and neck strap, I had a large enough piece to add a pocket, although not large enough to play around with trying to match the print. And the apron had faded some from having been washed and worn. But she will get at least a couple more good year's use with it.

Nice job Beverly! That's a pretty apron, No wonder she wanted it repaired. Giving something a little longer life is very satisfying. We throw far too many things away that only need a a bit of loving repair. Juno

What we do for love!

Honestly, by the time I unpicked everything, fused new interfacing to the bits which were REALLY thin, and put it all back together, I could just as easily have made a whole new apron. But I could not find a similar print, and she loves it, so....

I have some t-shirts that have seen a lot of wear. I keep thinking I'll make "something" (a quilt? throw pillows?) with them. I just really want to continue wearing them!

Attagirl!!! I bet she will never notice it's a little off. She will just be tickled you made her the apron. ;)

Keep plugging away! I'm so glad it's going well, and you should be very proud of yourself.

I feeling good physically and that's why I'm doing these things that have slipped by me many times . Sometimes I don't want to be bothered and don't wake up to the fact that my asthma is giving me grief. You'd think I'd be more aware of how I feel. It always is reflected in how much effort I put into my sewing. The apron will be fun. I know she'll like having it. Juno

I am going to start two T shirt quilts for my 2 sons from the T shirts they don't want to throw away. It's a great idea for using up the designs they love. With luck I aim to have them ready for christmas, all I need is time. Claire in Montréal France.
