todays project

I was freezing this morning, remembered I had a very pretty sweater knit sitting in the stash. So I made my self a Ruana. I didn't have enough thread in the right color to do it on the serger, so I did it on the machine with a double overcast stitch. Next time I get the right color thread I'll go over it on the serger. Fast project, about 45 minutes start to finish and I'm warm.

I just looked that term up, it appears to be much like the fleece capes I make for my sister. Except that hers have collars... and buttons... and are hemmed using the coverstitch machine. And I added custom embroidery.

They take me about 4 hours, I'm on my fourth one for her.

Sounds like a good way to stay warm. We have been cold / cool in Central FL, but today warmed up to 78. It was a nice day to walk around Disney World. Barbara in C. FL

The capes you make are so beautiful. The Ruana is a little more utilitarian. It's great when reading or watching TV. I get so cold this time of year. They are also great for the beach on a cool evening or riding in a car when a coat is just to much.

Thanks, Juno. I love making them for her, they are such an easy project (NO fitting issues!) and give her so much pleasure. She is way too thin, and is always cold, even in summer. She wore the original RTW off-white one until it was practically threadbare. Now she has three in different colors and weights, with a fourth one in the works.
