Hi All,
I'm in the throws of making my first ever T-shirts and they are not coming out too badly at all! (I'm only working with some cheap material).
I'm having a problem though. I've now made two T-shirts with a neckiline and armhole facing that is extended to make it into an invisible shelf-bra top inside the T-shirt. Once constructed, I've flipped everything to the right side and pressed it. However, when top stitching (for decoration, and to hold the layers together so the seam line doesn't roll forward) the neckline / armhole has s-t-re-t-ched....... and sort of lettuced!
Now this hasn't happened on a standard T-shirt when I top stitched the collar, and it hasn't happened on any hems - only when I've been top stitching on faced areas. Weird.
I've tried both a stretch stitch zig zag and a straight stich, and second time round I tried tightening the tension slightly and crowding as I stitched - but still no joy - although the stretched effect was less.
I'd very much appreciate any suggestions on how to deal with this problem.
TIA, Sarah
