Torn bathingsuit

Hi! Can anyone suggest how I should fix my favorite swimsuit - it has a rip in the front (small) . The suit is 70% nylon, 30% lycra, and black.

Thanks Jennie

I'd buy a bit of swinsuit lycra in a matching or blending color, and make a small over-lay or insert patch for the tear, adding a bit of the mending lycra in another place on the suit, to make the mend look like a design instead of a patch. Geometric designs look best, unless the suit has floral motifs elsewhere. Such a mend will always widen the original tear, of course, but that's part of the successful mend process. Lycra mends are best done with a serger and fuzzy nylon thread. Try to match the stretch of the mending lycra to the directional stretch of the suit lycra. Max stretch goes around the body. Tricky mend. Good luck. Cea.
