Rats! I have just spent a precious HOUR exploring that site and some of the links... And I DON'T HAVE TIME! Got 2 pairs of shorts to finish, and a dozen or so labels to sew on before James goes to camp in FRANCE at 4:15 today!

I haven't ordered from them but they send samples, which I have ordered and the material is beautiful. The samples come very quickly. There is also a sewing guide on the site which is excellent if your not sure of how to sew an unfamiliar fabric. They have very pretty fabrics. Juno

I have noticed quite a few people that have ordered from emmaonesock.com on the patternreview.com website. It seems like everyone has been very happy with them. I personally haven't ordered, but that is only because I have enough fabric already on hand to last several lifetimes!

And you were worried........ Oh ye of little faith... ;) I knew you'd get it done. Good job on using stashed stuff to get him dressed too.

I had to smile at this post of yours. I had only just posted my response about the international flavour of this list and here is your post about a supplier in your own country that you hadn't known about till now.

Somehow or other (perhaps from reading 'Threads'????) sitting here on the other side of the world, I had come across that name and was so intrigued by it that I knew about it ages ago. I wondered if it could be a Native American name so did a bit of a hunt. We have a few Aboriginal fabric designers but not many so I wondered..........

Ain't the Internet a wondrous thing?

I think I can say, without fear of contradiction, that there are probably *dozens* (hundreds?) of fabric suppliers in my country I have never yet heard of. Of course, I'll keep seeking them all out. ;-)

Indeed!

Your question made me curious, too:

Why EmmaOneSock.com? Emma One Sock was founded in 1994 as a boutique line of children's clothing designed and manufactured by yours truly, Linda Podietz. When I decided to 'retire' this business in the beginning of 2001, I began to sell off some of the very beautiful fabrics that I had accumulated over the years. It became apparent that there was a market for the types of fabrics to which I had access, and suddenly I found myself in the fabric-selling business! Since the company was originally named for my two children, EmmaOneSock.com has remained as the name for my new incarnation as a fabric seller.

I wonder, does that mean she has one child named "Emma" and another named "One Sock"? :-O

She e-mailed me back:

The other is Aaron, his nickname as a baby was "one sock" (for always pulling off one sock).... Now he's almost 16 and my daughter is 18 and off to college soon.... it was a long time ago!

This email was stuck in my spam, so I apologize for the delay... just retrieved it! Regards, Linda

So now you all know how the website name came about. ;-)

I love it! She *did* name her site after her two children!

Reminds me of an old joke about how a tribe of Indians named their children after the first thing the father saw when he exited the birthing tent after greeting the new child........

ROTFLOL! My son-in-law told that during our trip to the desert SW last spring. As I recall the old chief saw "Two-Dogs-A-......"

I almost wet myself laughing.
