The version I heard was that of a brave named "One Man Bucket". He was the second-born twin...

That's the version I heard. In a longer version with a sister named "Morning Star" and lots of other filler to drag it out.

My son-in-law also did some creative embellishing. My daughter had just seen the first (and only) roadrunner, and screamed "ROADRUNNER!!! ROAD F___IN' RUNNER!!!". Which had DSIL and me giggling hysterically. Then he told that story.

What's that? Why, yes, we did have lots of fun together... ;-)

Was he being chased by Wile E. Coyote, perchance?

Three of us in a rental vehicle, with two suitcases each and assorted "other stuff", plus souvenirs picked up along the way = no room for mice. ;-}

I didn't see him/her. :-( We were off on a wrong road on the drive to Hoover Dam, so it turned out to have been the "right" road (for us).

Beverly, who added about a dozen birds to my life list while on the trip!

Good for you. I'm still counting crows. ;-)

I don't doubt that for one moment.

However it was the fact that I, on the other side of the world had found it, whilst you who I know seems to keep up with events and is a keen fabraholic hadn't done so yet. It was the world getting ever smaller element from mirjam combined with me having that old post of yours pop up next that popped a few neurons for me.

They're amazing birds. They can count, too. There is a music group called Counting Crows. A bit of a pun.

I watched one of them kill a robin right outside my office window. Stabbed it right in the breast with its beak. Shocked the hell out of me. I had no idea they were predators.

Really? I didn't know that! I was surprised to learn that offspring visit their parents twice a year, and that any crow will come to the aid of any other crow in trouble even if there is no relationship. Fascinating animals.
