Vintage sewing site

This site - VintageSewing.info - contains sewing instructions from the early 1900s to the 1950s. You can click on the links and read detailed instructions for various sewing projects. I found it interesting that the older books relied mainly on verbal instructions with a dearth of diagrams or pictures. Sewing was a good deal more difficult then and seemed to require a lot of skill, without doubt. I'm not sure I would have wanted to attempt a six gored tailored skirt based on those instructions alone.

But back then most people learned to sew from their moms and grandmoms. I don't know about you, but my one gramma made basically everything she ever wore until she started having strokes, and her daughter my aunt did as well (and I was born in the 50s).
