VOT: A Roomba mystery

We have talked about vacuums here, including the Roomba. So I thought I'd share our little adventure.

My older son came to visit for a week (left Saturday) and while he was here, I walked past the Roomba docking station one day and noticed that Bianca, my Roomba that the aforementioned son gifted me for my birthday on his last visit, was missing! Empty docking station!

I knew that at least one of the cats, plus another on at least one occasion, has pushed the start button, so I suspected that some curious feline had started up the Roomba sometime during the night. I wasn't sure which night, but figured it was fairly recent. I looked all around, but found no sign of little Bianca. *sigh* *sob*

I mentioned it to my son later, and he went hunting. He found her! In a different room, but I had not turned on the towers that confined her to a room, underneath the low-slung entertainment center. I hadn't realized she could even get under there! Apparently, she did, and stayed long enough to run down her battery. He took her back to her docking station, and she happily docked to recharge.

And we lived happily ever after.

LOL! I'm so glad Bianca didn't run away permanently.

On the subject of naming tools, I'm getting DGD an adjustable dress form for Christmas. I will be sure to let her know she needs to carefully select an appropriate name for her new companion. I can hardly wait to see her face when she opens it...

hehehe... Mine all have names.

The original obe was called Dolly, just because. The next one that came was a larger sized older one. Parton. To go with Dolly... And she was a wee bit crabbit. Parton died. Then there was Jenny, my mature figure one, named for the first lady I used her for. After that came Caroline, another pre-loved gift. Athena is my 16+ sized one. Then there is Brat, the kiddy one, and the bloke is Fred! I need to name the display head I got for hats. It's unisex. And faceless. It might get called Blob.

I'm so glad you found Bianca, It would have been a very traumatic loss if you hadn't Juno

Thank you, Juno. It would be traumatic to lose anyone or anything that is cheerful about cleaning. ;-)

I have seen you refer to them by name here before, that's why I'll suggest DGD name her new form. I also have one of these coming for her:

I'll make sure she doesn't name it for either her mother or me, that would make it too much like a voodoo doll....

I'm sooo sorry to disappoint you girls, but you know, with the economy and all, I've had to pare my Xmas list, and you both missed the cut by just the *tiniest* margin. Maybe next year... ;->

I have to get me one of those! Tinkerbell or Thumbelina...

That is too cute for words.

You see that, Juno? I guess I'll return the gift I got for Beverly to Neiman-Marcus. Will you be sending yours back to Tiffany?

Exactly my thought! And I will have it to wrap for Xmas even if the full sized one doesn't arrive in time. I'm going to buy her a starter supply of pretty glass-headed pins, too.

BTW, I am going over Sunday to help DGD learn the basics of my Huskylock 910. I gave it to DD when I won the 936, but DD is scared to death of it. DGD on the other hand has used my old Bernette and is not the least intimidated. She want to make her holiday dress. ;-)

Pppppppfffftttttt!!!! Yeah, right. More likely Salvation Army or Goodwill.

Feel free to keep it for yourself, darling.

Excellent!

The 910 is great. I know I wore mine out, but she's unlikely to be rolling the hems of 16 stiff polyester slipper satin bridesmaid skirts in two days... Silly me!

James has used my Bernina 1150MDA. If he can do that, she will manage the 910 easily.

I had a friend over yesterday. She is what she would class as a competent home dressmaker. She is, and makes some very nice things. She came over to cut a silk frock out a while back, and had a play on the Bernina. She went home and was raving about how wonderful it was compared to her (actually very nice!) Toyota serger. Her husband couldn't understand how it might be that much better: they both do the same thing, use 4 threads... As Diane said, it does it faster, smoother, is easier to thread, more solid, MUCH quieter, and when you have a good machine on the bench you can feel the difference. I love my Brother serger, and recomend it to anyone just starting, who doesn't need or want to spend the big bucks, but when you use them side by side on the same project, you really CAN feel the difference!

And the speed is something you can work up to. The Bernina and the 910 both do very nicely with a light toe on the foot control.

Beverly, I'm sorely disappointed in your attitude, It's not the price of the gift, it's the gift.Obviously you doubt our sincerity to buy you a fine gift. actually I was going to get you a genuine imitation 1/2 k gold and platinum, with very exquisite genuine almost real crystal choker from KMArt. As you know KMArt is a step above WalMart for fine imitation jewelry. Now I;ll keep it for myself. Joanne look for your gift, coming through on pony express. Juno

Ah, well, I'm truly disappointed not to be receiving such a fine well-thought-out gift. I'm sure it would have gone nicely with my faux fur coat. I hope you have a Merry Xmas!

Yes, snow is falling in the Houston area beginning about 8:00, the earliest snowfall ever recorded. Last year, we had one the second week in December, and about one-inch stuck to the ground for any length of time.

I just thought you might like to know I will be inside the house today.

Oh, Juno! I am so looking forward to it! As for Beverly's gift, a wonderful floating firepit for her swimming pool, I guess I'll just return it. I thought it would be so nice for her, a cosy spot of warmth for those winter swims and night swims, but so it goes. The gift shopper at N-M said they're just the thing this year.
