Waving from the messy sewing room

Can't wait to see them. I went to the dentist this morning and had actually chosen today because his office always does a big to-do for Halloween. This year's theme turned out to be disco. They had disco music playing, decorations and lamps, and most everyone was in costume. The dentist himself was wearing a black shirt (unbuttoned modestly), black slacks, lots of chains around his neck, and he had kind of curled up his hair. It was rather fun, I might add :)

Ok. One down, one half way.....

I got the boy's Halloween costume finished just now. Ok yeah, down to the wire. But at least I got it done before he came home from school!!!!!!!! lol He got hakama in an indigo colored cotton blend and a hakama-shita in a white on white stripe. Thank you $2 table at wal-mart!!!!!! whoo hoo!!!! I'd planned on doing this for him to take into school later on when they start studying Japan. So y'know what????? Killed 2 birds with one stone on this one. The Oberon costume is nearly done. I had him pull off all the stabilizer and clip threads on the cape. :) All that's left on that one is hemming and finish work on the tunic, and to put the ties on the cape. Then that's done. Tried using a sharpy on the buckram of the crown. That looked icky. Sharpy doesn't cover dried hot glue very well and there was plenty of ooze from under the sticks.

BUT!!!!!!!! Then I remembered the 10' rule! This is a very important rule for stage costumes. (those of you who have done costuming will be very familiar with this rule, it becomes much more prevalent the closer you get to opening) "It has to look really good from at least 10' away!" lol I'm not going to sweat the buckram showing between some of the sticks. Yes, I'm getting tired of that costume. LOL

So that's where I am so far. I will post Halloween pictures later this week. :)

Good for you.

My son wanted to be a Pokemon for Halloween. But he wanted to be Ditto, who is basically a big pink blob. I had no idea how the heck I was going to pull that off.

Fortunately when we went to the store to pick out the perfect pink, the small bit of testosterone in him kicked in and he realized that he would have to be pink.

So he was a ninja.
