Wedding Dress

I am looking for any book recomendations for teaching me how to make a beautiful wedding gown. I have a friend who is looking for an a-line dress, a sheath or very form fitted gown in lace, Charmeuse or something of the like. I am an experienced lay-mans (I learned my mom's shortcut techniques and have had no real training) sewer and am able to draft patterns, (only because my mom is a designer and she showed me how to do it). I make a lot of christening gowns (dupioni, velvet etc...) so I think I can do this with some real acedemic tips on construction. If you have or know of a book that directly discusses making a wedding dress like I've described I would LOVE the help

The wedding garment book I love best is Susan Khalje's "Bridal Couture". I am en experienced sewist, and have sewn dozens of bridal and prom gowns, but I still referred to that book a *lot* while making my younger DD's wedding gown.

NAYY. I also have an old Vogue sewing book (sorry I can't put my hands on it at the moment), which I like for the illustrations of specialized techniques.

There are a few good books about. For this type of work I always look wider than the immediate subject, so here's what I like:

Vogue & Butterick Designer Sewing Techniques: ISBN 0-801908620-6 $17/£12.99

Couture Sewing Techniques, Claire B Shaeffer. ISBN 1-56158-497-5 (The Taunton Press, 2001), us$21.95/can$34.00

Bridal Couture: A Guide to Dressmaking Skills for Creating Beautiful Custom Wedding Gowns Susan Khalje ISBN: 0801987571 Publisher: Krause Publications, £13.85

Bridal Gowns: How to Make the Wedding Dress of Your dreams, Susan E Andriks. ISBN 0-935278-51-6 (Palmer/Pletsch 2000), US$19.95

You can find them all on Amazon or order them from your local library.
