What color thread for Levi's Jeans?

I'm making some bags of new denim and want to sew them with orangish thread to mimic Levi's. Being color blind, I'm in trouble and don't even own a pair to drag to the store to show a clerk for a match. Anybody researched this? I can't find a reference no. w/google, either.

Like to get a pantone number or a thread color/number in Madeira Aerofil, Mettler, or some other polyester thread. Maybe I'm overthinking this (per usual) and any old orange would do? Thanks for any advice. JPBill

The original Coats & Clark "Jeans" thread is usually pretty close. Since you don't need to match a pair of jeans, that would work just fine. It's a gold/orange color. (I'm good at telling what color things are. My DFIL is also color blind. We coach him through matching things. ;) )

Now, I think that thread is either cotton or cotton/poly. But for any topstitching you do on the bags, it would look the most like jeans.

Bill,

Try:

YLI No. 7 Blue Jean Gold (Jeans top stitching range)

or Gutterman Orange shade 350, top stitch thread

6000m of red/orange levi's jeans topstitching thread for $28! Gutterman carry jean's top stitching threads in a variety of colours, but I can't find a chart for them on line- so can't tell you what shade

- sorry! They certainly have a variety of shades that look just like the RTW top stitch thread on jeans.

Do you want the heavy topstitching thread? If so:

has either "Lee Gold" or "LeviGold" I prefer the tensile strength of polyester to cotton, fwiw.
