Whatever happened to Polar Bear's Sewing Patterns?

I've not been able to get onto the website listed in many plus size listings. I am looking for men's plus size sewing and knitting patterns. Does any one know if Polar Bear's Sewing Patterns still exists? Cheers Glennis

Hi;

It would appear that Polarbear's patterns are no longer on the net.. All of the website's pages seem to come up as 404 or 403 non-existant or "forbidden". I hope that nothing has happened to Polarbear, he was a nice person.

Good luck finding large men's patterns... It is a real problem... You can try to find a copy of Simplicity 9477 Large Men's l/s shirt,s/s shirt, pants, & walking shorts (up to size 6x) (This pattern is discontinued, which is a real shame.)

Here are a couple of Hawaiian "Luau" shirt patterns in sizes up to 4x, which work up nicely: (numbers 210 & 220)

can also be used to make s/s "dress" shirts using "view b" ...(These patterns are presently available) Simplicity 4585 is a presently available men's zoot suit pattern in sizes up to 52 (2x).

Simplicity 4758 is a presently available men's boxer shorts pattern in sizes up to 5x.

Simplicity 4975 is a presently available l/s shirt, vest, and "western" shirt in sizes up to 5x.

Presently available, Simplicity 9469 is similar to the discontinued

9477, except it is available in sizes to 52 (2x) only.

McCalls has a **few** large mens patterns up to size 3x in the unisex/men/uniforms section of their present catalogue.

If it's any consolation, he didn't have *that* many patterns. A brief pattern, a dress shirt pattern, a Speedo-type swimsuit pattern, some sweatpants, I think, and a casual shirt, and I think that was it.

You can always put in his URL at

and see if there are any pages archived from his site that might give you contact information.
