where to get burda magazine?

I would like to subscribe to burda magazine, so I went to their website and tried to order it. it asked for my name, address, email, etc. But it didn't ask for credit card info. How odd?

I got an email as soon as I hit submit saying this:

Thank you very much for beeing interested in burda! We will work on your order as soon as possible.

We wish you a lot of fun with our magazine, your burda-Team

Vielen Dank für Ihr Interesse an einem Abonnement des Burda Modemagazins. Wir werden Ihre Bestellung umgehend bearbeiten.

Viel Spaß beim Lesen wünscht, Ihr Burda Team

So how am I supposed to pay for it? will they even mail to Canada? It was on their country list, but I don't know. To be honest I don't even know whats in every issue, I just hear people raving about it all the time over on Craftster.

Anyone have experience with this?

TIA!

Just out of curiosity (and while stalling the return to quilting the monster quilt) I had a peek - I *think* that they will contact you about costs etc before finalising the order.

however they do give a contact addy in case you have questions:

For questions about subscriptions in foreign countries and for non-German editions please contact:

Tel: +49 - (0)8382 - 963180 E-mail: snipped-for-privacy@guell.de

though maybe phoning wouldn't be such a good idea considering the cost of foreign calls ;-)

Leave it to me to not see that, thanks for pointing it out!

Thanks, that might be easier. I will wait to see if they contact me and check if there are any price differences.

That website says $70 US/year (a steal of a deal if you ask me!) so in canadian $ that is approximatley 78.85 according to

That is so cheap, for such good patterns, even if it does involve a bit of extra effort, and their styles are just what I like.

Thanks so much!

a typical case of too may tempting patterns to distract one from other matters ;-)

I had to put my credit card firmly away, having seen a few I'd like to make and might even be *able* to make :-) however time constraints don't allow for playing with fabric in this way :-S

Tempting, Yes! But for me this is an occasion where I would splurge a little and subscribe. For all the patterns it has, and it seems that alot of them are "business-ie" its a good deal. I need more work clothes and I am so tired of buying something that fits in the bum, but is tight in the waist, or vice versa....and I don't want to buy bigger and alter. Its easier just to make it from scratch.

Recently since I started working full time I feel like I have no time to sew, but I am still getting used to it. I will make time!

Dear Michelle,

I had a long-time subscription to Burda. I don't subscribe anymore, because the styles are way too young for me. Anyway, you will most likely get a bill, and as soon as it's paid, you'll get your first issue.

Jessamy, I love the jacket and the skirt, though I don't think the top is for me. A batik would be perfect for the jacket, as you said. I've used Burda patterns in the past and love them, but right now, I have so many items to finish before Christmas I don't dare buy another pattern. Maybe I can do some sewing for myself after the holidays. Emily

I don't think I will be using a stripe for the top - it's a tad *too* much for me but a nice knit will do the trick I think - my body shape doesn't allow for real pullovers (a good way to look fat IMO) so this looks like a good way of having one without accentuating my tummy too much.

my current workload doesn't allow anything till after next week is over (making a quilt for the European championships show and working there) and after that I will be on my more normal deadlines quilting wise and will have a bit of time to play with clothing fabrics :-)
