YEE HAW! Bouncy, bouncy bouncy! OT

Just had a call from the nice secretary bird at the pain management clinic. I need to go for an assessment next Tuesday to see if I'm eligible for a place on a pain management course starting in April. OK, so it's short notice, but I had nothing booked, so that was easy to arrange, and the awkwardness of getting to Sheppy (the bridge is raised regularly for passing sails, and that bit of the road is benighted with roadworks at present), but it will be worth it to get something to help me NOT turn into a crabby ole witch at far to regular intervals!

If I couldn't take this appointment, I'd have waited months for another one, and at least a year for a course! So keep the old digits in the crossed position, and we'll see what happens!

Congratulations on getting into the course. From what I understand from friends, they work wonders. Most times, it's worth putting up with a few inconveniences like road work, to get what we want/need. Lots of luck. Emily

I hope you can get onto the Pain Management course. I'm new to this group but being disabled have a lot of pain. My time at pain clinic gave me a mixed reaction. I hoped for a cure but there isn't one but the very positive thing that came from the Clinic was that I learnt how to focus mentally on the painful area and relax it. Sort of self Hypnosis. It works very well for me most of the time. As I say I have a lot of problems. My clinic gave me a relaxation tape as well and that is wonderful. selkie

I have intermittent severe pain caused by osteoarthritis in my neck, shoulders and knees. Sometimes my hands hurt so bad I can't use scissors. :-( A few years back, my PT hooked me up to a "bio feedback" machine, and although I was *very* skeptical, I did find that I could actually make the numbers go down. Having learned the technique, I can now manage the neck and shoulder pain most of the time with very little medication.

That's great news. All the best and I hope it works for you. These courses get great feedback in Australia. Just consider the fun and games of getting there as a minor inconvenience compared to being able to get an appointment so soon.

Thanks for the good wishes. I'm hoping for something similar, as I know of no cure for fibro! :(

No idea, but I'll let you know what happens after tomorrow! :)

Exactly my thinking. It's not as if it's a 300 mile round trip, after all. :)
