Just for a little treat after, or rather inbetween all the hardships, I went to a 'Dutch fabric market' in Dortmund today. DM is to go to hospital next week for something with her pancreas; they don't know what it is yet, but although we hope the best, we fear the worst. Please keep your fingers crossed for her, or pray, or just send good thoughts our way. I'm moving in with my parents for the time since my dad is off on vacation. They booked that one ages ago and she hopes to follow him in a few days. Bless her optimistic little soul. I'll take my sewing machine and the bits of the patchwork footstool with me, so I may work on that one in the evenings.
Anyway, what can I say, the ground was wet from the droolings of several hundreds of fabric addicts. Denim in various weights for EUR 6.- per meter,
1.5 m wide, boiled wool from a tenner (60 % rayon in that case) up to 35.- for pure wool, cottons in all shades and prints, and loads of fleeces, cotton and other; taffetta, embroidered and decorated otherwise, linen prints, Provence fabrics, you name it. I got home with a meter each of three different fluffy fleeces, partly cotton for tunics for DD, plus 1.5 m of a flowery one for a new sleeping bag for her. Also, I got two zippers, some bias tape, borders with cats and owls, and 10 m of denim in three different weights, some of it for a pinafore dress/jumper for me, some for pants and some for denim items for DD. I spent a total of approximately EUR 200,- and feel not the least guilty because I added valuable substance to my stash. There's nothing like hoarding - you know what I mean. ;-)U. - trying to stay optimistic, too.
